Rules

The rules for the 3rd CEPIC Stock Photography Awards organized in cooperation with East News

By entering the competition you hereby accept the following rules:

1. The competition is open and free for all  the photographers wordwide.

2.  Entires must be submitted in the following categories:

  • Cities, buildings, industry
  • Creative and abstract
  • Lifestyle and released people images
  • Nature, Science and Landscape
  • The Arts, culture and retro

or they must only be a good stock photography.

All images will be entered into a single category.

All categories will be judged in the context of contemporary stock photography.

3. The main prize winner will receive:

the title „CEPIC Stock Photographer of the Year”
3000 EUR
Winning image showcased in the Berlin exhibition
International exposure on CEPIC website
Global media coverage

4. The 1st finalist will receive:

1500 EUR
Winning image showcased in the Berlin exhibition
International exposure on CEPIC website
Global media coverage

5. The 2nd finalist will receive:

500 EUR
Winning image showcased in the Berlin exhibition
International exposure on CEPIC website
Global media coverage

The best picture in each category will be awarded with a diploma and a  medal.

A printed catalog – sponsored by age fotostock (www.agefotostock.com) – with the best 55 images will be delivered the day of the Awards ceremony.

6. There are no cash alternatives available for prize winners.

7. The photos submitted must contain all of the required releases.

8. Entrants must submit their work via www.cepic-photography-awards.com web site.

9. Each entrant can submit up to 5 entries. Entries can belong to the same category, to different categories or only be a good stock photography. They can be either taken by the entrants themselves or by the photographers who are represented by the entrant’s agency. Participating agencies can submit up to 5 pictures per photographer. There is no limitation on the number of photographers whose pictures are submitted by the agency. Participating photographers can submit up to 5 of their own images.

10. Digital submission must be compressed JPEGs, 26 MB original file size, 300 dpi. , saved in RGB color model. Each image must be supplied with the relevant information including: title of work, photographer credit and date. All entrants must be able to supply a high resolution image suitable for printing in media and for exhibition should the image be required.

11. Entries must be submitted by 23.59CET on 15th of May 2017.

12.. Entries will be judged between the 16th and 18th of May 2017

13. Shortlisted images will be announced prior to the CEPIC 2017 Congress Welcome Reception and the winners will be announced during the CEPIC Annual Industry Party on Friday, 16th of June 2017 in Berlin, Germany.

14. The decision of jury, formed by professional editors, is final and no negotiations will be entered into with respect to any such decision.

15. CEPIC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify or remove any entry that does not comply with the rules, even after the entry is submitted on the web site.

16. The winner and the finalists must be present at the awards ceremony in order to receive the award or they must indicate a person who collects it on their behalf. Otherwise the jury reserves the right to grant award to another photographer.

17. By entering the competition you warrant and represent that:

17.1. You are the sole owner and author of each entry or you have the right to submit the photographs on behalf of the photographer you represent.

17.2. You have the right to make Your entry available to the competition.

17.3. Each entry does not contain personally identifiable information about You or any other person(s).

17.4 Each entry does not contain any infringing, threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libelous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic or profane content.

17.5.Each entry does not contain any material that could constitute or encourage conduct which would be considered a criminal offence, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law.

17.6.Each entry does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property rights of any third person or entity, or violate any person’s rights of privacy or publicity, and your entry does not include:

(a) trademarks owned by third parties (b) copyrighted materials owned by third parties (including movie dialogue or musical compositions) (c) names, likenesses, voices or other characteristics identifying celebrities or other public figures, living or dead (d) entries which contain any commercial content that promotes any product or service other than that of CEPIC (e) entries containing screen credit.

17.7 You agree to fully indemnify CEPIC in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person by reason of Your breaching any of the foregoing.

17.8 You must satisfy yourself that all releases, consents, licences or permissions as may be required for the Images have been secured. You are solely responsible for obtaining all such releases, consents, licences or permissions. You agree to indemnify and hold CEPIC harmless against any claims, damages, losses, expenses or costs (including any direct, indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit and loss of reputation and all interest, penalties and legal costs and other expenses) arising in any manner whatsoever from or as a result of the unauthorised use of any Image supplied by you.

17.9 If you are under 16, you have Your parent’s or legal guardian’s consent to participate in the Competition. If CEPIC does not receive a valid signed parental or legal guardian consent form for any winner under the age of 16 within 7 clear days of the contestant being declared a winner (excluding the day on which such declaration is made by CEPIC) CEPIC will be entitled to select an alternative winner from among the contestants.

18. CEPIC recognizes you, the author or right holder of the image and this is the case retain full ownership of the copyright in each entry.

19. All entrants understand that any image submitted to the competition may be used by CEPIC, and its Event Partners, for marketing and promotional purposes of the event only, for a maximum of two years after the awards ceremony date in June 2017. You hereby grant CEPIC a non-exclusive, irrevocable license throughout the world for two years in all media for any use connected to the promotion of CEPIC event and/or competition, including, but not limited to:

(a) judging the Competition (b) displaying the winning entries and runners up at public exhibitions promoting CEPIC and organized by CEPIC (c) inclusion within the Website, a CEPIC Stock Photography Awards book, magazine or similar (d) inclusion within any materials promoting of the Competition and/or any exhibition organized by CEPIC, in the promotion of the CEPIC (e) inclusion on Competition -and exhibition- related products to be sold by the CEPIC or any third party following the individual agreement by the author (f) sub-licensing the entries to the press for reproduction in connection only with the Competition and any exhibition (g) allowing viewers of the Website to view images on a computer screen, PDA or mobile telephone and store such pages in electronic form on disk or on a PDA or mobile telephone (but not on any server or other storage device connected to a network) for their personal, non-commercial use only.

20. Any photograph used by CEPIC shall carry a credit line. Any failure to provide such credit line shall not be deemed to be a breach, as long as CEPIC uses its reasonable endeavors to rectify such failure within a reasonable period from the date of notice of such failure.

21. You acknowledge that it is your responsibility for protecting any entry against image misuse by any third party, for example, but not limited to the insertion of a watermark. CEPIC and its Event Partners assume no responsibility and are not liable for any image misuse.

22. CEPIC assumes no responsibility for any incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Competition, and CEPIC assumes no responsibility for technical, hardware or software failure of any kind, for lost network connections, garbled computer transmissions, other problems or technical malfunctions with regard to the Competition. CEPIC assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, corruption, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alteration of entries. CEPIC is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail addressed to CEPIC on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the internet or any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to Your or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Competition. If for any reason a contestant’s entry cannot be viewed or is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer viruses, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or technical failures, CEPIC assumes no responsibility.

23. In no event will CEPIC, its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and related companies, Event Partners, its advertising or promotion agencies, or its officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives or agents be responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages arising out of any contestant’s access to and use of the Website. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, everything on the Website is provided „as is”, without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose or use or non-infringement.

24. You agree to participate in related publicity and to the use of Your name and likeness for the purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without additional compensation.

25. By entering the competition you agree and acknowledge that CEPIC is permitted to receive your registration data. All personal information will be used by CEPIC in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

26. In event of insufficient number of entries, CEPIC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel the competition.
